Enlightening

My good friend Jesus and I had another enlightening conversation today. I value the different perspective he has. We discuss many issues and he is eager to give his viewpoint.

This time, the articles in The Times regarding different religions came up. I felt many of the letters were laughable, but Jesus went right to the heart of the matter.

“In the letters, do these people express love for one another? In some of them it does not appear so. Be aware Larry, there are people who will even object, criticize and condemn you for openly speaking with me, for you admitting to having our conversations.”

Regretfully I had to agree. Jesus continued.

“It’s easy to judge other people. Do you see how they place themselves as the ultimate authority? When that happens, one ends up with chaos.”

How difficult it is sometimes to understand what is written, what is right before one’s eyes.

I thanked Jesus for his friendship. “I wish I could get more people to listen to your simple message.”

It was time to go. “Love ya guy,” I yelled. Jesus waved back from the driver’s seat of his pickup truck as he pulled away. On the back of the truck was lettered “Jesus (Hay-soos) Martinez. Professional landscaping. Yard maintenance.”
