Two residents have filed ethics complaints against Mayor Ginny Dickey, both related to the same situation.
One of the filings came from Clayton Wilfer, pastor of Joy Church of Fountain Hills, who describes Dickey’s “use of mayoral office in an attempt to curtail free exercise of religion and free exercise of speech.” Specifically in the complaint, Wilfer references comments in a social media post by Pastor Tony Pierce of Cornerstone Community Church, to which Dickey said caused her concern.
In one post Pierce stated, “the United Methodists are now run by demons – the Holy Spirit has left them – that happened years ago here at the Fountains United Methodists Church here in Fountain Hills. Progressivism is demonic and poison, straight from the pit of hell.”
