In Fountain Hills, ethics complaints are piling up

Against Councilman Allen Skillicorn

Since he took office in December 2022 Fountain Hills Town Councilman Allen Skillicorn has had seven complaints filed against him for violating the ethics code established by the Town Council Rules of Procedure.

While one of those complaints, filed earlier in 2023, was reviewed with a finding of no violation, the other six complaints, all filed since Dec. 1, 2023, are still pending review of the attorney retained by the town to review such complaints.

Three of the complaints stem from a September incident in which Skillicorn is alleged to have confronted a town Code Enforcement Officer over removal of a political sign. An MCSO report of the incident states that Skillicorn followed the town employee to Town Hall, where, in the presence of a Sheriff’s deputy with a body camera on, accused the code officer of stealing the sign. Skillicorn is alleged to have violated the law by attempting to stop the officer enroute to Town Hall. No action was taken regarding such violation.
