The Rio Verde Community Relations Committee is hosting the traditional holiday activities in Rio Verde.
Residents can decorate their golf cart for a fun parade through Rio Verde on Saturday, Dec. 21. The parade line up starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Rio Verde Community Center parking lot. Expect a surprise visit by Santa.
At 6:30 p.m. following the Parade, residents are invited to the club for a community Christmas buffet dinner. The menu includes Caesar salad, meatballs and pasta, chicken alfredo, garlic bread and Christmas cookies. Contact the club for reservation information. One of the most popular legacy events in Rio Verde is the Christmas Eve luminarias display.
This event is one of the most cherished Rio Verde traditions. On Christmas Eve, luminarias will line many of the streets of Rio Verde.
Volunteers are needed to assemble, distribute and light them and pick them up on Christmas morning. The committee will provide all supplies. Activity groups are invited to work as a team. Contact Linda Babcock at dlbabcock@yahoo.com for information and to volunteer.
