Ewald Koehne

Ewald Koehne, 80, passed away on July 11, 2014. Ewald was born in Droeper, Germany and came to the United States in 1960.

He received his Master’s in mechanical engineering in 1958 in Osnabrueck, Germany.

His sense of adventure and his love of automobiles and mechanics ultimately brought him to the United States and enabled him to find employment with dealerships in New York/New Jersey and ultimately becoming an employee of Volkswagen of America.

Following his retirement from Volkswagen in 1991, he moved to Fountain Hills and devoted much of his time to volunteering – two years at the American Red Cross, seven years at the Mayo Clinic and 11 years at Hospice of the Valley.

He is survived by his partner of 16 years, Edythe Taylor, his son Eric Koehne (wife Andrea), his step-daughter Kim Berger (husband Edgar). He was preceded in death by his wife Erika Koehne in 1997.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Messinger Mortuaries, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd.
