It is good to see the School Board stand strong and do the right thing. Our School Board is a group of incredible individuals that must make many difficult decisions.

Having spent most of my working years in management and leadership positions, I understand the tough decisions boards need to make. There were times when I had to let someone go, and often that individual was someone that I liked, but they were under-performing or not acting in the best interest of our team. Successful companies satisfy internal and external customers and, if done well, deliver an exceptional product to the end users.

Fountain Hills Unified School District needs to be sure that their products (our students) are prepared to excel as they venture forward into college and life.

It is imperative that employees of FHUSD create a positive learning environment where our kids are excited to achieve and grow as individuals. Some teachers fall short in this area and weaken the team. The decision to let a teacher go has to be difficult as this type of decision can wretch our souls.

I am excited for my son Ethan as he starts another year at Fountain Hills Middle School, a school of excellence.

So often in life our decisions seem to be made by what we feel is popular or politically correct. I, and most citizens, have not been privy to all the facts about a pending teacher hearing, but I am confident our School Board will continue to make the right decisions related to teacher terminations for the greater good of the School District and its students.
