Thank you to all of the citizens who attended the aquatic center informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Learning Center at the High School. The meeting was well attended, and based on the feedback after the presentation, I am encouraged that this is a worthy discussion to continue for our community.
Special thanks to the presenters, Guy Loisi, Director/UEB Builders; former Mayor Jerry Miles; Sue Mackey, executive director of United States Swim School Association; and Craig Wilson, former Olympic swimmer and inductee into the International Swimming Hall of Fame 2005.
All of the presentations were excellent and very informative.

The time and effort of all involved in the research to effectively evaluate whether an aquatic center would be affordable and also be a long- term investment in the community that would add value to the School District, community and business interests in town is a worthy cause.
I am hopeful now that our presentation will be convincing to the School Board and the town leadership and both will agree this is worth further consideration. Special thank you to Tom Lawrence, superintendent of FHUSD; Karl Gaardsmoe, School Board member; and Henry Leger, Town Councilman, for attending our presentation.
As a School District and community we are making great improvements. We need to do more to attract families and promote a stronger viable business environment long term. Our sales tax revenues as a town are critical to our future stability, and our School District is a key to the future of our community.
