Fair fee

I just read the piece by Scott Soldat-Valenzuela about the fair last week and read the part about how the “Chamber holds sole responsibility for marketing, financing, set up and tear down” of these fairs. Is the Chamber the only entity that collects the fees from all of the exhibitors for both fairs? Do any of these fees go back to the Town?

I just read in the same issue how we are facing a budget deficit over the next five years starting at $636K in 2017/2018 and rising after that. So, perhaps some of these exhibitor fees could be used to help offset the pending deficits?

Maybe also charge a minimal $3 daily entrance fee? Let’s see, 205,000 attendees at $3 each covers the budget deficit for 2017/18. I would gladly pay $3 to walk the fair just like we do in Cave Creek.

If you add to that splitting the exhibitors’ fees with the town, we could be in the black over the next several years. So, where does all the exhibitor fee money go now? Is there any public accounting for it?
