Family History group meets Monday

Janet McNaughton will be the featured speaker Monday, April 14, at the monthly meeting of the Fountain Hills Chapter of the Family History Society of Arizona.

She will share information about sharing and preserving family history.

McNaughton is passionate about family history. "The data and records are going to be there, but our memories and our family stories will be lost forever unless we become family historians and preservationists," she says. "We can also spread the interest in family history to more family members and other generations."

Family History group meets Monday

Janet McNaughton will be the featured speaker Monday, April 14, at the monthly meeting of the Fountain Hills Chapter of the Family History Society of Arizona.

She will share information about sharing and preserving family history.

McNaughton is passionate about family history. "The data and records are going to be there, but our memories and our family stories will be lost forever unless we become family historians and preservationists," she says. "We can also spread the interest in family history to more family members and other generations."

She invites the audience to bring their ideas and examples of ways they have shared and preserved their family history. There will be two door prizes.

McNaughton is a graduate of Arizona State University with degrees in English and law. She worked as a prosecutor for most of her career and is now retired. She has been interested in genealogy for over 15 years and is a past president of the FHSA, Tempe Chapter.

The meeting will be Monday, April 14, at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana, between the Library and the Town Hall. A general meeting starts at 9 a.m. and the guest speaker will begin at 10 a.m. There will be a short meeting, followed by Deborah Kucharik, chapter member, who will give a mini session on tracing 20th century immigrants.
