There has been a great deal of misinformation and fear-mongering these last several months in regards to Islam and the character of Muslims within our country and our community.
Though I am not Muslim, I feel the need to point out that many members of our community who own businesses here, participate in charity events, pay taxes, and generally improve our town are Muslim.
Every religion has its issues. We can point out verses in the Bible that make Christians look violent and cruel as well; it does not mean that every Christian I come across is violent and cruel.

Likewise, I’ve known many kindhearted and giving people who practice Islam, and my heart aches when I imagine the vitriol they are subjected to on a regular basis by members of our community.
