Under the direction of new Executive and Artistic Director Joseph Kluesener, D.M.A., the Fountain Hills Chamber Players announce its 19th concert season.

Following 18 seasons of community support and continued success, this season’s highlights include a one-of-a-kind opportunity for collaboration and involvement along with educational programs and chamber music performances.

In anticipation of the 20th anniversary season, the Chamber Players will commission an original composition by an Arizona composer dedicated in honor of the founders, members and leadership who have supported the group for two decades.

Led by FHCP director and the board of directors, FHCP friends and audience members may participate in the selection process by helping choose the instruments, the composer of the piece and the theme of the custom piece.

The Chamber Players will again team up with the Fountain Hills Community Center to offer free events as part of the 2016 Munch & Music Concert Series hosted at the center.

On Jan. 29, visit FHCP Board President Alice Brovan as she accompanies Kluesener in a program featuring Past, Present and Future of Bassoon Repertoire where they will collaborate on works for bassoon from Europe, North and South America.

The players return March 2 when the FHCP Bassoon Quartet performs repertoire ranging from classical hits to Broadway and pop tunes. The program will include educational elements, emphasizing the historic development and uses of the bassoon and bassoon reed making.

Additionally, the Chamber Players offer four concerts this season, performing classical masterpieces along with newer works by living composers.

Guests will enjoy engaging performances by traditional chamber music genres alongside unique instruments such as the tuba, accordion and harp.

Repertoire includes pieces by Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Ravel, Shostakovich, Astor Piazzolla and more. The concerts also will feature vocalists performing classical operatic works and jazz-influenced Brazilian and Argentinian songs.

The concert dates for the 2016 season are Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 13 and April 3. Concerts begin at 3 p.m. with a pre-concert talk at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception with artists immediately after the concert. All concerts will take place at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
