Members of the Fountain Hills Rotary Club recently had the opportunity to meet students staying here as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.
Club President Tony Pistilli said, “All the exchange students we have here are from other countries and they are going to spend the next year with us at Fountain Hills High School.”
The four students are from Germany, Italy, Belgium and Chile.
Recently an indoctrination session took place where Bill Beamish, Four Peaks Rotary Club president and district chair of the student exchange program, detailed the year-long program for the students and their families.
“Now that we have our four students here, we’re going to give them and their host families and their counselors an orientation that sets the rules of the road of what to expect this year,” Beamish said.
“We’ll teach them about accountability, how to get immersed in the American culture and how to get over those little hurdles that they’re going to be facing.”
The students will be attending school the entire school year and then likely experience some Arizona adventures in the early summer of 2015.
The noon Rotary Club is helping sponsor the program along with the morning Four Peaks Rotary Club.
