FH Song and the latest Let's Go!

Posted

A little bit of Fountain Hills history came across my desk recently.

Austin Hulcher, a long-time resident of Fountain Hills, came across a copy of the Fountain Hills Song.

It was written by a lady named Karen Myers, who was an active volunteer in the community and the wife of a Fountain Hills building contractor.

The song was copyrighted in 1991 and sung by Jim Wood. He also played the guitar accompaniment.

The words are:

The little town of Fountain Hills is Arizona‘s best.

Just a few short miles from Saguaro Lake, one hour from the snows, there’s a peacefulness where angels rest and desert foliage grows.

To the southeast and the Goldfields glow against the setting sun.

The majestic tower of Red Rock disappears when day is done. Those big McDowell Mountains mark our border to the west. There are so many reasons Fountain Hills is truly blessed.

Neighbors helping neighbors, it’s a great place to reside. We build this little city with a great amount of pride.

God’s crowning work of art in the beautiful southwest, the little town of Fountain Hills is Arizona’s best.

Our giant Saguaro cactus and the tiny Gambel’s quail. The majestic tower of Red Rock can be seen from hill and dale. Our peaceful lake and fountain where the angels stop to rest. There are so many reasons Fountain Hills is truly blessed.

Neighbors helping neighbors, it’s a great place to reside. We build this little city with a great amount of pride.

Well, there you have it. It’s a catchy little tune.

So, what do we do with it?

We can’t play it every time someone comes into the museum. We could put the cassette on display, but that wouldn’t be very exciting.

It is a part of the town’s history so we don’t want to discard it. Anyone out there have any ideas?

Be sure to check out the latest edition of Let’s Go! Inside this week’s issue of The Times. The main feature is on a popular Scottsdale event that is being held for the 38th year, Mighty Mud Mania.

If you are looking for things to keep the kids busy this summer, there is a story on reading programs being offered by the Scottsdale and Fountain Hills libraries.

As is the case every month, we have the area community theater previews, columns by editor Linda McThrall, comedy expert Bob Howard and Ryan Winslett’s movie previews and the town’s Parks and Recreation Department’s IN THE LOOP section.
