The next meeting of the Fountain Hills Chapter of the FHSA is Monday, April 9, at the Community Center.

The meeting gets underway at 9 a.m. with announcements, questions and comments from members.

President Lisa Reis will poll the members as to what areas of research they are interested in exploring next fall and any special requests for summer excursions.

At about 10:30 a.m., guest speaker Robert M. Wilbanks IV will present “Understanding Research Facilities: Genealogy Research Anywhere.” The talk will cover how libraries, archives and other research facilities work, store, organize and make resources available to do genealogical research anywhere. Questions and answers will follow.

Wilbanks has had a deep interest in history since early childhood, studying all history books in his elementary school library. He discovered genealogy at age 12 with the advent of the TV mini-series “Roots.”

He began working in libraries in 1982 and has a degree in Library Technical Service. He has a wide-range of working experience with libraries. He has been a practicing genealogist for 29 years.

Robert began writing and publishing in 1988. He has authored four books, is a past editor of various society newsletters and two family newsletters.
