FHUSD's capital receives another cut

The effects of recent legislation continue to whittle away at Fountain Hills Unified School District’s capital funding, with the local district now expecting about 15 percent of what used to be provided at full funding.

Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations Dr. Robert Allen spoke on this matter during the Aug. 12 Governing Board meeting, with the agenda taking a short break to hear a report on District Additional Assistance (DAA) funding.

The current equation has allotted $67.61 for students in K-8 and $73.94 for students in grades nine through 12.

The current equation has allotted $67.61 for students in K-8 and $73.94 for students in grades nine through 12.

This is a drop of about 85 percent from when the program was fully funded, resulting in a loss of hundreds of thousands of capital dollars.

To make up for this difference, Allen said FHUSD will primarily shift to utilizing bond funds and capital override funds to address immediate capital needs.
