Although there are two days left after the holiday to turn in nominating papers, it appears that the field is set for the upcoming Town Council election. The deadline to submit nominating papers is 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 28.
Town Clerk Bev Bender said she had received nominating petitions from all candidates who had made the necessary filings to collect petition signatures by the end of the day Thursday.
Mayor Linda Kavanagh is the only candidate to file for mayor and it is likely she will return for a second term unchallenged.

There are four candidates for the three seats on the council with terms expiring. Only one incumbent, Councilman Henry Leger, has chosen to seek re-election. The other candidates apparently headed to the ballot include Lina Bellenir, Nick DePorter and Alan Magazine.
Council members with terms expiring who are not seeking another term are Ginny Dickey and Tait Elkie.
