Discussion items at previous meetings, the board will consider adding Live Theatre Performance and Production to the high school’s offerings in 2017, a partnership with the Fountain Hills Theater that would allow interested students to learn about the industry, be involved in local productions and get high school credit for their work.

The brainchild of Principal Cain Jagodzinski, a collection of classes designed to push students academically is also being considered. These classes include AP Environmental Science, AP Capstone Research, AP Statistics, AP Capstone Seminal, AVID and Statistics. These classes, if approved, would not be implemented until fall 2017.

A collection of extracurricular trips will also be considered during tonight’s meeting, including a vote on an upcoming Fashion Design trip, as well as first reads on a proposed STUGO trip to the State Convention in Lake Havasu and a DECA conference in Tucson.

Another potential class is also joining the discussion agenda, AzMERIT Math.

Before the business item can get rolling, though, the Board will host a pair of presentations. First, the high school varsity girls volleyball team will be recognized for their recent state championship, followed by a presentation from Principal Jagodzinski pertaining to the high school.

The board will meet in executive session early this week to go over the superintendent’s annual evaluation at 5:30 p.m.

The regular agenda, which is open to the public, is expected to kick off at 6:30 p.m. this evening in the District Learning Center.
