Final spill clean-up planned

It was more than a year ago that a gasoline tanker truck ruptured when it collided with a gate next to the McDonald’s restaurant at Shea and Saguaro boulevards, but next week crews will begin the final clean-up stages from the spill.

Between Monday, Dec. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 20, Trevino Drive will be closed between Saguaro Boulevard and Berkemo Drive while work is done to remove and replace portions of the pavement.

There are also additional closures and restrictions expected along Saguaro across from the Baptist Church and on Nicklaus Drive while SRP does work to relocate electrical equipment that is in the way of cleanup efforts.

Another unrelated street closure is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18. Laser Drive will be closed west of Technology Drive while a crane is moved in to install equipment at the Prevco Subsea Housings manufacturing site.

One very large crane will be located on Laser Drive to lift the equipment through the roof of the building at Laser and Technology drives.
