The pictures of the new Fire Station #2 were very impressive in last week’s paper. My father was a 30-year fireman, as a volunteer and driver.
I gave some thought of what he would have had to say about the new fire station. I think he would have said he had never seen a fire station driveway that didn’t go directly out to a street. The paper said, “the new site is expected to decrease response times for emergency calls around town.” Really? At the new fire station, the trucks have to make a hard left, another hard right and another right or left turn at Fountain Hills Blvd. did the architect just have the plans for the fire station to be attractive or functional?
