Fireplace fire damages home

On Thursday, Jan. 7, Fountain Hills emergency personnel responded to a reported residential fire in the 9000 block of Horizon Trail.

Sheriff’s deputies and Fire Department crews arrived at the home about midnight. The resident reported just arriving home and lighting his gas fire place when a short time later the smoke alarm went off and smoke started coming from the area around the fireplace.
