Fountain Hills Community Garden will celebrate the first anniversary of its opening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

The event is open to the public. Garden tours, vendors, plant sale and silent auction are planned.

First anniversary for Community Garden is March 24

Fountain Hills Community Garden will celebrate the first anniversary of its opening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

The event is open to the public. Garden tours, vendors, plant sale and silent auction are planned.

As the date approaches, more information will be released.

Saturday, March 3, is scheduled as a work day in the garden from 9 a.m. to noon.

The first garden class in March will be “Bee Keeping in the Garden” at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 10.

Audra Waddle, a beekeeper and owner of AZ Queen Bee, is introducing bees to the garden. She will discuss what goes on in the hive, different types of beekeepers, ways to use honey, and provide samples and recipes.

Her class is free to members and $5 for non-members.

A cactus container class from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 18, will explain how to create a container with a cactus arrangement.

The cost is $25 and will cover all supplies needed. Tickets can be purchased from Susan by calling 480-353-1555.

A garden social will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14. The free public event is a time to meet gardeners and gain tips from them.
