It is a little known fact that at a National Elks Convention in Dallas, Texas, in 1908, a proclamation was passed to set aside June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.
The local lodge, as well as lodges throughout the country, will celebrate the day Sunday, June 14.
Local Fountain Hills Elks Lodge will conduct a short and informative ceremony honoring the flag at 6 p.m. June 14. The ceremony will be held at 16766 E. Parkview Ave., Suites 102 and 103.

It is a little known fact that at a National Elks Convention in Dallas, Texas, in 1908, a proclamation was passed to set aside June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.
The local lodge, as well as lodges throughout the country, will celebrate the day Sunday, June 14.
Local Fountain Hills Elks Lodge will conduct a short and informative ceremony honoring the flag at 6 p.m. June 14. The ceremony will be held at 16766 E. Parkview Ave., Suites 102 and 103.
A presentation on the history of the flag, including an introduction of all the flags that have served the country since 1775 to today.
The event is open to the public and well-suited for young people. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
