Flash flood warning issued

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the greater Phoenix area including Fountain Hills in effect from 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 9, through 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Extensive moisture over Mexico is being drawn north into Arizona and forecasters are predicting rain showers and thunderstorms to begin late Tuesday and continue through Wednesday and not tapering off until Thursday.

Fountain Hills has numerous washes that cross streets and are prone to move water during heavy rainfall. Motorists are urged to stay out of flooded washes and use caution on wet streets.
