Floyd R. Spets passed away Nov. 17, 2014 at 85, having been born Feb. 7, 1929. His parents were Asa Jonas Spets and Genevieve (Bergstrom) Spets. The historically interesting community of Bishop Hill, Ill. was his birthplace.

The family moved to Kewanee, Ill. where Floyd attended school, graduating from Kewanee High. Throughout his school years he remained active in Boy Scouts. He attended Bradley College and Iowa State University. His intended career path in architecture was interrupted by the Korean conflict where he served as a lieutenant in 1952.

Returning to Kewanee he partnered in a contracting business for several years. He married Margaret (Bruen) Spets and together they became the parents of three children who he deeply loved.

They survive and are Ann Marie Hays (Todd), James E. Spets (Susan), and Joseph R. Spets (Antoinette), along with seven grandchildren, Michael, Teresa, and Mark Hays, Trevor and Madeline Spets and Jenna and Emily Spets; two brothers, John and Donald; a sister-in-law, Teresa Naughtin; nieces and nephews survive. A sister preceded him.

Floyd and family moved to Paradise Valley in 1969. He opened retail stores and continued contracting. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church where services were held with burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and also a member of the American Legion.

He was a courageous gentleman of another era, who kept his promises; he loved and was loved and beloved by his family and friends now and forever.
