Before Primary Election Day, you have the opportunity to hear from a few more candidates who are asking for your vote. The Arizona Secretary of State oversees elections in Arizona and is first in line to succeed the governor (like lieutenant governor in other states).

State Rep. Justin Pierce is one of the Republican candidates vying for the nomination for that office and he will be our guest at the next meeting of Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

You may have heard that “all politics is local,” and we will also welcome two of the people running for Fountain Hills Town Council, Lina Bellenir and Nick DePorter. Speaking of local, our own Fountain Hills resident and U.S. Congressman, David Schweikert, will be providing us firsthand news about the latest developments in Congress and offering his perspective on what is to come in the fall.

As always, our meetings provide a nearby venue for meeting the candidates, asking questions and learning from them and about them in an informal setting. Come and meet some of the people asking for your vote. Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party invites you to join your neighbors on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Fountain Hills Unified School District Learning Center, located at the corner of Palisades and Golden Eagle boulevards. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party (www.fhteaparty.org) is a not-for-profit organization, now in its fifth year of providing you with a convenient, local venue for one-on-one contact with candidates and elected officials. Please join us, bring a friend, bring a teen, bring your questions. Admission is free but donations to offset expenses are gratefully accepted and appreciated. We hope to see you there!
