Forecast for wet winter weekend

From the National Weather Service: A wet and cold winter weather system is on track to move into the southwest this coming weekend. Temperatures will fall below normal as chances for widespread desert rain and high terrain mountain snow are possible Sunday into Monday. Normally dry washes may begin to run and roads may become slick at times.

Rainfall amounts across the Phoenix area Saturday through Monday appear to be up to one inch, with locally higher amounts north and east of Phoenix. Snow accumulations are possible in the mountains north/east of Phoenix but exact amounts are uncertain at this time.

The chance of rain for Fountain Hills begins with a slight chance tonight and continues into Tuesday with the greatest probability Sunday and Monday.
