Foreign wars

Hopefully the next governor and Legislature can create a bill to give the motion picture industry economic incentives, possibly through tax credits, to film in our state.

On the national level hopefully some sanity can be found in our foreign policy. We send our troops abroad in not well thought out foreign policy initiatives. We think in terms of months of solving religious wars that have been going on since the Crusades. We’re better off if we leave the policing of Muslim extremists to the Muslims themselves. Anything else is just adding gasoline to a fanaticism that will never be extinguished.

We have so many concerns within our own borders that need to be addressed. Our manpower and resources are better spent here, not on unwinnable conflicts abroad. A vision that my late father John Falconer, a Pearl Harbor survivor, shared.

We’re not anywhere near as dependent on Middle Eastern oil thanks to the success of fracking, so let’s not have our children coming home from senseless conflicts abroad as paraplegics or not coming home at all.

Our foreign policy has been run in this country since WWII by a group called the Tri-Lateral Commission on the Council of Foreign Relations. Every Secretary of State has come out of this group, except Colin Powell, since WWII.

David Rockefeller was instrumental in its founding, Henry Kissinger was his protégé, their vision of this country’s foreign policy was founded on “Realpolitic,” that the U.S. should pursue its economic interest abroad backed by military might. This policy has created great harm to this country, coming up with overseas conflicts that haven’t been examined for their long-term impact like the invasion of Iraq.

Hopefully citizens can wake up and say no more foreign wars for, like ancient Rome, when a society overreaches its true strategic interests, it leads to its downfall.
