The Tonto National Forest will waive fees at day-use recreation sites on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day, commemorating the end of World War I and paying tribute to all military heroes past and present. As a reminder all forest offices will be closed.
The fee-free program is held in conjunction with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Act. Fees are waived at many day-use sites, such as picnic grounds and boat launches, in cooperation with other federal agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Fees will be waived at all day-use sites operated by the Tonto National Forest. Camping and Campground fees are not waived.
Visitors to the Tonto National Forest are encouraged to contact the appropriate ranger district office to confirm which recreation sites will have fees waived, and which sites will charge fees.

Encouraging use of public lands supports the goals of President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors http://www.nationalgetoutdoorsday.org, an effort with a premise that the protection of the nation’s natural heritage is a non-artisan objective shared by all Americans. America’s Great Outdoor turns to communities for local, grassroots conservation initiatives and seeks to rework inefficient policies and to make the federal government a better partner with states, tribes, and local communities.
