Forget about it

For those who are in favor of an aquatic center, here are just a few of the problems with having a “public” water park.

Traffic and the need to add more police to control it. Cost of infrastructure for parking and road access. Reduces property values. Crowds bring more crime, pollution and trash. It would destroy the integrity and quaintness of our quiet community.

Big Surf is located near Routes 202 and 101. Next to open deserted lots, and warehouses. If you cannot afford a pool, or live in a condo that has one, join a health club that has one. God forbid you should spend your own money. McDowell Mountain Aquatic Center is 18 minutes from Fountain Hills. You can spend time in your car with your children.

Good to hear Alan Magazine’s positions on the aquatic park, taxes and zoning. Perhaps he would like our town to look like Country Club Road in Mesa. An example of poor zoning and permitting. Being in favor of the aquatic center means higher taxes. Does he favor a town property tax?

I have always been proud of how our town has handled its planning and zoning. Also architectural committees, for homes, commercial buildings, and signage.

Most of us moved here because it’s small town living, its land locked by McDowell Mountains, state and national lands, and Indian reservation. Also its scenic beauty, no traffic, no airplanes overhead, no city lights and its safety.

An increase in our population will come when this great recession is over. The 2000 acres of land that was annexed will be built on.

Stop wish list ideas: Call the developer and designer and tell them to “Forget-About-It.” Tolis, 928-230-3734 and Loisi, 480-823-0967.
