There were 155 school shootings in 2022, and 198 school shootings in 2023 by Aug. 23, according to security.org.
Almost 60% of all school-related active shooter incidents have happened at high schools since 1999, and gun incidents at schools peaked at 250 in 2021.
Schools have changed in many ways over the years, but security is becoming more and more of a focal point. Schools around the Valley have emergency response classroom kits that include things like first aid kits, eight-hour glow sticks, plastic bags, a twelve-inch crowbar, an AM/FM radio with batteries, duct tape and more.
