Fountain Hills adds test prep classes to help with college applications

State assessments start two weeks after spring break

The Arizona Department of Education started using the ACT test as the statewide high school assessment for mathematics and ELA starting in the 2021-22 school year.

Students can use their ACT results for college applications, and Fountain Hills High School (FHHS) added new ACT test prep classes to the schedule this year to help students succeed.

“As we were looking at the school’s needs last year, and as we were starting to kind of morph our model into our trimesters, we were also looking at previous scores and how do we fill the gaps that we had,” FHHS Assistant Principal Jessica Kane said. “We’ve made a lot of progress with our reteach, but what else could we do? That’s where we came up with the prep classes. It’s not like things that they’ve taken before. [The] ACT is very different from any kind of test that they give you.”
