There are a lot of reasons why people never return to their old high school. Some people move away from home and others just have no intention of ever going back.
“In my mind, you’re done, you’re never going to step foot in your high school again,” Rita Canales said. “But then I realized with my kids, I might actually be doing that, and then I got this job, and it was just very nostalgic to walk through the halls again. It brings back a lot of memories.”
Canales is joining Fountain Hills High School (FHHS) staff as the school nurse this year. She graduated from FHHS in 2012 after her family moved to Fountain Hills when she was in the eighth grade, and she’s never left.
