The Fountain Hills High School beach volleyball team lost 5-0 to No. 1 Mesquite (13-0) in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs on Thursday, April 18.
The No. 8 Falcons (10-4) were eliminated two days after they beat No. 9 Estrella Foothills 3-2. Four of the Falcon pairs played an extra tiebreaker set in the first round, and the top-ranked Wildcats came into the match full of energy.
Head coach Jimmy Belluscio said Mesquite wore out the Falcons with their accuracy and by alternating between short and long shots.
