Fountain Hills blood drive smashes goal

The Fountain Hills Community & Iron Roots Blood Drive that took place from Jan. 23-24 smashed its goal of total units of blood collected.

The two-day event at the Community Center saw 164 units collected, exceeeding the goal of 125, according to a press release.

“We simply cannot begin to express our appreciation for your dedicated service and support on behalf of community blood drives, especially during January when blood donations are often at some of the lowest levels of the year after the holidays and when winter weather and cold/flu season take a toll on many blood drives across parts of Arizona and surrounding states,” the press release said. “This will be especially impactful this week as we expect many of our Vitalant partners in other states to need shipments of blood we collected this past week to help replenish supplies due to blood drive cancellations due to the tremendous winter storm across the US these past few days.”
