Fountain Hills Chess Club members square off in Valley tournament

Locals finish middle of the pack

Two members of the Fountain Hills Chess Club entered a chess tournament in Mesa over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Paul Crumbie and Robert Leger attended the Rising Star FIDE Classic Chess Tournament and finished with varied success, with Crumbie winning three games out of six and Leger winning two-and-a-half games.

The three-day tournament hosted players from around the Valley, many of whom were quite young.
