Fountain Hills council denies permit extension for Park Place

Developer: action effectively kills downtown project

Fountain Hills Town Council voted 6-1 Nov. 18 to deny a request to extend a permit deadline for the Park Place phase two and three construction downtown and was promptly told their action would kill the development.

The council voted in October to grant an extension until Dec. 31, 2025, for the developer, N-Shea Group LLC, to pay fees and collect the approved building permits for the multi-million-dollar project featuring mixed use development along Avenue of the Fountains and adjacent to the Fountain Hills Community Center.

The developer subsequently requested another extension on the permits through 2026, and although Cecil Yates, executive vice president for Shea Connelly Development, LLC said it was possible the Dec. 31, 2025, deadline could still be met, they needed some assurance they could get more time. The council was unwilling to approve the one-year extension.
