By the end of the current fiscal year (June 30) the Town of Fountain Hills will have completed four street pavement upgrade projects totaling nearly 10 lane miles of new asphalt, according to town Public Works Director Justin Weldy.
The good news on this front is that the town was able to save approximately $700,000 from the estimated costs at the beginning of the work. The savings come from the fact that total reconstruction anticipated when the projects were bid was not necessary on most of the streets.
In his projects update to the Town Council May 7, Weldy said the money will be held in the Streets Fund for future work.
