Fountain Hills council meetings show favoritism, lack respect

OPINION — Wake up, Fountain Hills. This Town Council is not serving your interest. Another Town Council work session witnessed by us poor attendants, and then another abrasive town council meeting. When will this end? Does the ROT factor even care what the residents want?

As a witness to the work session, I just sat in wonder that maybe no one but me sees that there is such continuing disadvantageous treatment of two council members. Mayor Friedel addresses both Peggy McMahon and Brenda Kalivianakis with the admonishment of “keeping it short” and cutting off Ms. McMahon at his whim. Then he calls on Ms. Kalivianakis and advises “Brief, please.” Never once did he say anything similar to any of the other council members.

Both Ms. Earle and Mr. Skillicorn use their voices to push for moving along and eliminating any brainstorming or thoughtful, productive discussion during the meetings. Are the town’s needs secondary to their busy lives?
