Fountain Hills council should not be considering a Kirk statue

OPINION – At the conclusion of Tuesday's (Oct. 21) council meeting, Skillicorn wanted a new agenda item for the town to take up. Namely, constructing a statue to honor Charlie Kirk, and this was quickly seconded by Larrabee with a third by Earle.

Renaming public facilities last meeting and now a statue? That should not be within the town's purview. Seeing they adore Kirk so much, why not convince one of their churches, or a church in town, to construct and install a statue for him? Then they could go there and place flowers, or memorialize, or whatever they want to do if they want to positinn him as a symbol and ideal of their particular Christianity. This item is for their personal lives and not for the public's business, interest or funds.
