Fountain Hills' Councilman Skillicorn needs to step down

Integrity, responsibility and accountability are important personality traits that we all should seek to find in our government leaders. Councilmember Skillicorn’s actions have shown him to be the antithesis of those.

We all remember, painfully, the video concerning his chasing and badgering a town code enforcement officer and seemingly lying to the MCSO officer on the scene. The current regime of Mayor Friedel, Larrabee, Earle and Watts saw fit to release him from the ethics sanctions he earned, despite a petition of 300 citizens asking the sanctions to remain in place. Did they know – I hope not – that a month before the sanctions were removed, Skillicorn allegedly committed a hit-and-run in Tempe?

A hit-and-run, which could be a felony in Arizona. Stay tuned, as his pre-trial hearing is Aug. 7. Seems like more bad press coming for our town.
