Fountain Hills High School senior Skye Alker returned to the cross country state championship and came home with a top-25 finish.
Senior Caleb Lara and sophomore Colby Wright joined Alker at the Cave Creek Golf Course and ran in their first state championship race Saturday, Nov. 4.
Wright finished 149th (19:19.7) and Lara came in 158th (19:31.9) out of 239 boys in Division III. Alker had a head cold and a fever the night before but still placed 22nd (21:24.3) and finished seven places better than last year.
