Fountain Hills fire chief updates Town Council

One year after ending contract for services

Fountain Hills Fire Chief Dave Ott went before the Town Council on Feb. 18 to report on how the Fire Department has been doing since it ended its contract for service with Rural/Metro Corp.

The first year was officially in the books as of Dec. 31, 2024.

Ott reminded the council that the community had an agreement with Rural/Metro since 1973 when the McCulloch Properties hired the private company to provide security services in the new development as well as handle traffic collisions and the occasional fire. After more than 50 years, the time had come for the now-incorporated town to take over fire and emergency medical services.
