At the very beginning of development in Fountain Hills, McCulloch Properties hired Rural/Metro for security and fire protection.
As of Jan. 1, 2024, after more than half a century, Rural/Metro will no longer serve Fountain Hills.
The Town Council made the decision about a year ago to discontinue its long-time contract agreement with the private fire and emergency medical service provider and transition to a town operated fire department. This past summer, Dave Ott, who had been serving as the local fire chief with Rural/Metro was hired by the town to continue as chief.
