Fountain Hills Town Council made the decision a couple of years ago to discontinue its contract for emergency fire and medical services with Rural/Metro Corp. and bring the fire department into the town structure.
The transition was completed within a year, and while relatively quick, the changeover was not hasty. Diligent preparation paid off so looking back one year later Fountain Hills Fire Department is healthy and strong, according to town officials.
Fire Chief Dave Ott is succinct. “The first year has gone very well,” he told The Times Independent. He also said it was time to make the change.
