Thirty-six Girl Scouts from the Fountain Hills neighborhood troops participated in the annual encampment at Camp Willow Springs in Prescott Sept. 12-14.
This year’s theme was inspired by the TV show “Survivor.” Girls aged 8 to 14 engaged in team-based games and built shelters using sheets and natural materials. The girls set up various stations where they learned essential skills, including fire safety, how to start a campfire and the proper methods for extinguishing it safely.
The girls concluded their action-packed day by preparing foil packet dinners and desserts over an open fire. The weekend was filled with competition, valuable lessons on staying safe in the forest and desert, songs, laughter, skits and memorable campfire gatherings.
