The best players always gravitate toward the ball, and for Fountain Hills, it was senior Taleigha Bonnaha who sparked the Falcons' comeback to overcome Miami 56-45 down the stretch in the 2A state quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Though a much different game than when the two programs met in early January when Fountain Hills routed Miami on the road 64-31, the Falcons displayed championship-caliber play to advance.
The Falcons nabbed an early 9-0 lead and held the Vandals without points for the game's first five minutes before Miami knocked down three triples to cut the home lead to 13-9 after the opening quarter.
