The support group aims to foster a sense of understanding and solidarity among attendees, acknowledging the unique and personal aspects of the grieving process, a press release said.
Each weekly session feature videos with insights from respected local counselors, pastors and healthcare professionals addressing various grief-related topics.
Personal stories of grief are shared at group meetings followed by small-group discussions to allow individuals the opportunity to talk, share support and apply the lessons from the videos.
Participants will receive a book with exercises to assist them in navigating their personal grieving journey.
Topics covered include managing emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, sadness, anger and regret, coping with life and relationship changes and recognizing the normalcy of grief while addressing feelings of being stuck or hopeless.
Local individuals who have attended GriefShare groups consistently express comfort and encouragement, finding solace in the understanding community that surrounds them, the release said.
“Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. No matter how long it’s been, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling,” the release continued.
For those who have experienced the loss of a family member or friend, Teeples invites them to join this local GriefShare Support Group at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 16150 E. El Lago Blvd.
