Boys Basketball
The Fountain Hills High School boys varsity basketball team finished the season with the record of 12-6 and finished second in the 2A central region. Coach Jeffrey Bonner and his squad had a successful regular season, earning a postseason berth, winning the Coyote Basketball Invitational and flourishing on both sides of the ball. Junior Ahren Lloyd took the next step up and has been standout performer all season. Leading the Falcons in four different statistical categories, Lloyd averaged 12.2 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and shot 68 percent from the field. Senior Lucas Grieco has been the key facilitator for the Falcons. Second in points per game, he averaged 9.4 and shot 79 percent from the free throw line.
The Falcons beat every team in their region except Rancho Solano Preparatory, which was a positive outing for the Falcons and showed this squad is one of the top two teams in the 2A central. Fountain Hills also enjoyed a seven-game winning streak toward the end of the season. Entering the play in as the seventh ranked team, the Falcons will have to prepare early for a fierce competition field.
