The Fountain Hills High School boys varsity basketball team lost a close hard-fought game against the Phoenix Christian Cougars, 49-48. The game came down to the wire. The Cougars had a 49-43 lead with a few minutes left. Fountain Hills came close to making a comeback thanks to senior Sam Barnard making two free throws and a clutch three pointer by promising guard Lucas Greico, making the game score 49-48 giving the Cougars a one-point lead. However, luck was not on the Falcons’ side as time expired.
“It was a hard-fought game for both sides,” said assistant coach Brent Olson. “Very defensive game, because both teams had a hard time scoring in the paint and finding points. We kept competing to the end, which I’m proud of. It’s just games like this one, the teams that want it more come out victorious, and Phoenix Christian found a way to win.”
