Fountain Hills honors service and sacrifice on Veterans Day

Ceremony at Fountain Park features keynote by Bronze Star recipient

A large crowd gathered at the Veterans Memorial in Fountain Park on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for the annual Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony, honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Organized by American Legion Post 58, the ceremony featured remarks from local veterans’ organizations, civic leaders and keynote speaker Major Ann Ching, a U.S. Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient. The event was led by Tait D. Elke, Senior Vice Commander of Post 58.

“Each veteran represents the very best of what it means to be an American — courage, dedication and love of country,” Elke said. “They come from every background, every walk of life, yet they are united by a single, powerful belief that our nation and the ideals it stands for are worth defending.”
